I like Jenson Button and all, but damn, McLaren is not getting $20M in performance from him anymore.

I like how this section has a clear intention to make fun of NASCAR. They are also "specifically engineered" for their style of motorsport.

"Sponsored by some sort of paint company" Oh shut the fuck up, be real.

I sense some bias here... and I'm OK with it...

I also noticed the bias all over the page. Clearly, NASCAR can also be sponsored by beer companies.

I hate the infograph. I'm not sure you could make F1 sound more douchy and elitist than this.

Lets break this down. You can go 200 mph for 6.5 million or 205 mph for 325 million. So for those 5mph (which unrestricted Nascar can go) you pay 50 times more for. F1 makes more than double the revenue than Nascar does and only has one driver that makes more than the top paid Nascar drivers. Nascar also has more races and more drivers, and in general is way more accessible to the average person, you can even crowd fund a car if you would like.

Seriously though, these numbers look far less impressive when you break them down.

Haha the reason is beacuse this article or whatever, was used to attract more people before the 2012 US GP

"Some paint company"

Alternatively, a multinational home improvement company with a market cap of $105 billion

Clearly, top speed is the only measure of a race car's worth, amirite? "Corners"?!?! Who the fuck cares about high-speed aero and cornering? That extra 5mph is really all the racing...

Fine, Ill rephrase. The better handling comes at a cost 50-1 compared to Nascar.

That better?

I agree that this isn't an infographic, so much as an advertisement for F1. Really there's nothing comparable about the cars other than both having 4 wheels... they're completely different in every way.

Not looking to start shit but NASCAR's got plenty of big boys. Shell, 3M, FedEx, DuPont, Coca-Cola, and a bunch of others. Yeah, there are shlocky ones like Furniture Row and Menard's, but still- not every sponsor is small time. Oh, and for what it's worth Shell has more revenue that all the F1 sponsors listed put together.

Car fixed with duct tape during race

or

you break the car, at all, you get a DNF.

Also, F1 has fuel requirements. NASCAR says "Fuck OPEC, we can burn as much of this shit as we want."

Shell sponsors F1. It even has like 3 races named after it.

Kinja'd!!! RallyWrench > The man in the iron mask

Kinja'd!!!3

I don't care for NASCAR any more than most here, but a couple of things to think about:

Amend the phrase "engineered to be as aerodynamic as possible" to something like "engineered for maximum aerodynamic grip", considering that F1 cars actually have the aerodynamic coefficient of a barn door compared to Sprint Cup cars, let alone most road cars. Aero grip comes at the price of drag.

Cup cars actually are engineered to be as aerodynamic as possible, generating just enough downforce to prevent lift. That's why they can achieve such amazing speeds, whereas when Honda took their old BAR F1 car to Bonneville. they had to take the rear wing off & make several other changes to reach 250mph.

I am aware of this. But it still remains a major brand that's a NASCAR sponsor.

I responded to the other guy too. I am fully aware that Shell sponsors F1. They even have great stuff like this out there:

But you missed my point, which was to say that not every NASCAR sponsor is small peanuts and that some are larger than the listed F1 "major brand" sponsors. I am not saying that one series has better sponsors than the other, merely that NASCAR has big ones too.

Even then, the "paint company" thing is wildly ignorant, since HD had a revenue of about $75 billion in 2012 to Ferrari's 2.3 billion euro and red bull's 4.2 billion.

oh yea. absolutely. I just stated that as a point of fact. The post clearly has an agenda.. and its depiction of NASCAR is tailored to that, so it doesnt mention the things you just stated
